Diyaudio ACA+ preamp/headphone amp. Using circuit topology similar to the famous J2 firstwatt amplifier. I love this as preamp (not a headphone person), selling off as this standard build with headphone jack, naked style, only to buy another and build into chassis for more traditional preamp. Alps 10k pot, manual. Absolutely killer preamp, 9db gain. Will provide basic 24v wallwart power supply. Also blue caps are Nichicon audio grade, and brown ones are Elna Slimic - higher grade caps. Sorry for dust on some parts, will blow off with air compressor before shipping well packed.

| I need a preamp. This is neat. I have an old T-1 Yamaha tuner I am trashing. I wonder if it will fit inside. How high is your components on the board shown? Is it warm sounding or lean? I am using Apt Holman preamp now so that is my reference. Love the old sound of it. Sound as good or a little better than a new Freya S by schit audio. Googled to see pics of T-1, should fit inside. Can get some smaller heatsinks, used what had on hand since was doing the "naked build". It is warm sounding - I had been rotating between a passdiy BA3 pre, B1korg nutube and this one. I like this one but with how diff recordings/genre's have diff loudness levels was going to build myself a new one inside a chassis as this is a keeper - was hoping some passdiy enthusiast who's not diy savvy would come along to grab it. Since most cost effective thing would be for me to retrofit for my own purposes but not want to undo the original build.
The caps are within inch, think the sinks prob 1.5, can measure exactly in the morning or later tonight.
Havent listened to freyaS, only had the jfet saga I think where it opened my eyes where used to use passive direct from dac or phono preamp in past, but having at least a buffer or gain stage brings so much more dynamics. These days I've been sticking to more neutral low gain amps and influence sound character with preamp/gainstage. |
