The AR3a was Acoustic Researchs', 'Best speaker we know how to make'. Costing $500 a pair at the time when a new Ford Mustang was $3500. That appreciates these at about $10,000 / pr in 2024!
The AR3a used some radiclal hemispherical drivers for the mid and tweeter. They designed these to have an unprecidented degree of accuracy within theire reqpective ranges. Listenting to them with a solid amplifier today is quite stunning.
This pair came in from an older owner and we did a level 2 restoration. They have new woofer foam, new grill material, and all rear controls are cleaned and lubricated. They play loud and clean. cones are original and both original badges are included. The cabinets are pretty good and have a few dings but we oiled them and they look nice. They even have the original warranty card on the back in tact!
Note: Grill material is brand new and both match perfectly. Any color variations are shadows from our lighting.
