Focal Radiance for Bentley limited edition closed back dynamic driver headphones

Headphones are packed in hard shell carrying case with 4 ft (1.2 m) cable that is 3.5 mm at the headphone side and 3.5 mm at the amp side with a 3.5 mm to 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) screw on adapter.

The pocket inside the leather, felt lined box is made of thick construction paper-like material, and I accidentally tore it a little bit when I was placing the headphones in the box. This is what the picture of the interior of the box is showing.

Everything else in good condition.

These are pretty much tuned to Harman with the bass shelf and everything. They sound really nice, actually. Airy highs, smooth mids, and deep, punchy, rumbly bass. Has the Focal soundstage where it is 360 degrees around your head and a bit intimate, but it is still a well developed stage and portrays depth in the music well. Also has a good bit of the Focal dynamics where the percussive sounds like bass drums, snares, and cymbals all have that nice snap to them and are more physically engaging than other headphones. More so that you hear and feel the sounds rather than only hearing it. The pleasant tuning does a lot to reduce the fatigue of that sort of physical sound so these can be listened to for extended periods. The pads and headband are really comfortable, too, which helps with the extended listening.

They are super easy to drive and can be used in pretty much any setup. I don't think I was able to find anything that could not power these. Even my phone sounded great the first time I ever listened to them from a simple apple dongle. I really don't perceive them as being picky of the source chain - they just pump the bass and sing you sweet melodies everytime no matter what. Maybe stepping up in quantity and quality of power smooths out any peaks in the response, but otherwise they pretty much sound good out of anything.

They are easily one of the best dynamic driver closed backs I have heard. I even preferred these over the Stellia despite all of the Stellia's technical prowess. The tuning just sounds strange on the Stellias, and I could never turn them up loud like I could with the Radiance when I wanted to really feel that bass on my head. The Stellias needed EQ to help them out. Not the Radiance though! As an aside, I read somewhere that swapping the Stellia drivers into the Radiance housing is supposedly epic since you get the crazy detail and Focal dynamics from the berrylium driver but retain the Radiance's pleasant tuning. Never tried because I was too scared to take them apart and no proof to give you, but just an FYI if you are into modding like that.

Selling these because I have no need for closed back headphones anymore and have moved away from dynamic drivers in favor of planar magnetostatic headphones. While these are very nicely tuned, I simply do not use closed backs anymore and so they are just sitting on my shelf. They should be enjoyed by someone who has a use for them. It looks like they stopped making these, too. Maybe these will be an investment and will be worth $100k in the future like bitcoin? I sure hope so for you. Please enjoy until then!
