This is the time for me to clean up my audio gear, as I simply don’t have enough space for everything I own.
So this one needs to go: the Cello Encore preamplifier. This unit is part of my husband’s Cello Audio collection. He always took excellent care of it, and it has been stored for many years in a dedicated audio room that is smoke-free and pet-free.
The reason for selling is, as mentioned above, limited space and we also own more than one Cello Encore preamplifier.
I do not have the original Cello box. This is common with vintage audio equipment, as most original boxes are no longer available. The preamplifier comes with:
Power cord
- Two original manuals
- Two pairs of balanced interconnects - One pair: Cello Balance Male to XLR Female. One pair: XLR Male to Cello Balance Female
- A wooden box
I would rate the condition at 7 out of 10, considering its age.
Let me share a bit of my personal experience with this Cello Encore preamplifier. My husband and I are long-time Spectral lovers, and for many years we searched for a preamplifier that truly matched our Spectral amplifiers. We tried many preamps over the years, but none of them worked perfectly -until we connected the Cello Encore. The sound was simply amazing: detailed, natural, and incredibly three-dimensional. It’s honestly hard to put into words how it made us feel.
One very important note: you cannot use just any preamplifier with Spectral amplifiers, as it can be dangerous to your speakers. However, the Cello Encore is completely safe for this application. When the volume is set to zero, there is no “thump” or unwanted noise when turning on the Spectral amplifiers.
This Cello Encore preamplifier is an excellent match not only for Spectral systems, but for high-end systems in general.
