Technics SP-25

I bought this turntable for a system that never came to be.  This SP-25 is heavily modified.  Here's the original owner's description of the mods he made:

It has been fully recapped and restored to enhance and improve its performance and sound quality. 

Description:
· Technics Studio Professional
SP-25 Quartz Direct Drive Turntable repainted in medium gloss Satin Black.

· Custom Made analog Tachometer (similar to The Roadrunner) measures the speed in RPM's. The Digital Display shows the speed and any Pitch changes. The display was installed where the stock red strobe would be. The strobe is still there it's just disconnected and it can easily be reconnected. The display shows the 33 or 45 speeds. If you make a pitch adjustment it will show on the display as well.

· Experimental Plinth design. The durable finish was painted on, four coats. It was allowed to dry in a hot garage for a week before being color sanded and then polished to high Gloss Black luster. A very hard lacquer type of finish that resists scratches. Cylinders inside the plinth are filled with Silica Sand to dissipate vibrations.

· A Custom Made 1/2" in. thick Dark Aged Ebony Armboard was fitted to the plinth. It sits flush and it has been cut and drilled for tonearms with SME style mounts.

· The Armboard Tonearm Baseplate holes are threaded to 2.5mm fine thread for a perfect mount.

· 15 Amp IEC for removable power cord on the rear of the plinth.

There are no feet but I'm including VPI metal spikes with bases from a VPI HW-19.

There is no tonearm included.

No platter mat is included.  An optional TT Weights 5mm Stainless Platter Mat (seen in the pictures) is available for $200.  The black rubber/vinyl mat shown is from a Kenwood TT and doesn't fit perfectly.  Oddly, a Dual CS-5000 thick Damped Platter Mat will fit perfectly but I don't have one to sell.  There are 2 available for sale online right now for about $40 each. 

Several adapters are available.  An SME tonearm sliding base from an SME 3009 and several SME adapters for Rega, Linn, etc. tonearms.  These adapters include the SME sliding base and a collar for the non-SME tonearm.  The collars come in several sizes: 20mm, 23mm and 18mm.  The black one shown on the plinth is also 18mm.
