Bryston SP1.7

Bryston SP 1.7 Surround Processor that I used for about 2 & 1/2 years just to add a center channel and subwoofer from TV optical output in a 3.1 channel system. I fed the single-ended left/right outputs of the SP1.7 to a 2-channel preamp that I used for 2-channel listening. If I turned off the TV, or changed the TV input source, before turning off the processor, I would hear a faint pop. I don't recall if that was the case with both optical inputs. I have heard no such issues in testing it in 2-channel mode, using balanced outputs, to sell, and I have really been enjoying listening to it this way (and am impressed with the BP-25 if this is how good it sounds as my understanding is that the SP1.7 has the 2-channel capability of the BP-25). I never used the SPV-1 (RCA, S-video, and component video) video switcher.

No original boxes, manual, or remote. I did not go through all menu options, but some of the settings changes I made were done with the buttons on the SP1.7. I used a BR-2 remote to turn it on/off and to control the volume. I hesitated to turn the unit on/off with the toggle switch on the unit as it seemed to require a lot of pressure, so I always used the remote. I think both units look very good, but I rated it a 6 due to the faint pop with the optical input from TV and the fact that I only used it in a 3.1 system and separately (no TV input) in only 2-channel mode.
