Thanks Kirk, I will update the system since I have bought a new Pioneer VT30 65" 3D plasma TV. I want to update the system pictures but the Audiogon sight won't let me. It keeps saying I have no system saved. I also have some new pictures of the new GT200's I am having built by Tube Research Labs. Those things look fantastic. If you would like I can send you some pictures. I know you had the 400's. Take care!
That is exciting Grannyring. The interconnect was such an improvement that I can hardly wait to hear what the power cables will add to the already wonderful sound! My brain just never gets over how real it all sounds. I guess when you get to that point don't change it!
I use Paul's solid core copper power cables and they are really a must on his pre and amps. I have also owned his solid core copper ic's and still use his speaker cable. I think the power cables made the biggest improvement of all.
I finally got the last pair of the solid core copper interconnects. They are a a balanced set with Bochino ends. This step got rid of the last stranded cable from the signal side! I am still being surprised (pleasantly), of how good it can get! I now dream of solid core copper power cables. The Tube Reaserch Labs amps and preamps have changed the way I enjoy music. My home is open to anyone that wants to hear what great amps Tube Reasearch Labs have provided. Paul Weitzel of TRL made the solid core cables and boy what a giant improvement in sonics! Thanks Paul!
Booboo, I will be trying some exotic footers under the TROY and ORION, they are the Dalby Audio Design D7-GE90 gabon ebony footers. I'll report my findings soon. Upgrading the footers for the TROY is a must upgrade.
Yes I have! The Synergistic Research MIGs seem to work flawlessly. What is nice is you can turn them over for a slighty diffferent character. Next I want to try different footers (heavier) under the Tripoint Troy. I have heard that the sound stage expands!
BooBoo, Have you experimented with different footers underneath the DUDE pre amp and Accustic Arts front end? I know your a big fan of your stone platforms for isolation.
Thanks Glenfihi! I bet that Teac reel to reel sounds sweet. I am thinking of finding a reel to reel to add to the system. Also maybe a sacd player. Tube Research Labs amps are unusual in that they have the best of both worlds (solid state and tube).
The TRL web site pictures are VERY outdated. My facepalate is typical of his current design. The Dude has been improved and has your choice of silver, gold, black, blue, red, you name it. If you call Tube Research Labs Paul Weitzel will be glad to inform you of all options. My version is fully balanced and sounds incredible. I have had the BAT VK51SE and Krell KRC HR, and the Sonic Frontiers Line3SE. All of those sounded broken in comparison to the Dude.
Hello, I am currently looking into the Dude peramp. TRL web page shows the Dude with what looks like a standard 17 or 19" x 4" black faceplate with CJ type handles. Nothing like your large gold or silver faceplate with the large volume and select knobs and deep ingraving. Is yours the new version or custom? Thanks.....Douglas M. Singletary
The termites were starting to be a problem. The chairs help when we switch listening spots. Two songs of your choice in the sweet spot and then move to the right. The pics were taken by a friend Tim Ritter a professional photographer. His site is on the internet, it is ...... TimRitterphotography.com.
I have previously owned the Krell KSA 300S, Krell KSA 250,the Krell FPB 600 stereo amp, Krell FPB 650 mono blocks. These amps have powered the likes of Magnepan 20.1 speakers,Sound Lab M1 electrostats, and JM Labs Utopia speakers! All were fast, dynamic, revealing, very nice. Then I got the Tube Research Labs GT200 mono blocks. These have the KT120 tubes. The KT120's put out about 60 watts each. So the GT 200's are really GT 240's as far as power output in triode. They tromped my 650's. In every way. Not by a small margin but stomped them. My audiophile friends all say my current system is the best it has ever been. Even if that were not the case I can tell you I LOVE the TRL and will keep them a long long time.
Just added new cables of solid core copper from Tube Research Labs. Once again I am amazed. Bravo Paul!!!These cables are speaker cables and wow what a delight.
I could always hear slap echo and when I installed the treatment, I owned Magnepan speakers, and they recomended absorbers behind them. I choose diffusors instead. This allowed greater sound levels and give the illusion that you are not in a room.
Here is a recent few I have bought and find they have an outstanding sound quality and performance.
Jack Johnson -In between dreams Sade - The ultimate collection (really good!) The Cars - Move like this (it is like they never stopped) Doobie Brothers - World Gone Crazy (I likey) Paul Simon - So Beautiful or So What (High Rez)
I can't seem to find music fast enough now that the system is kickin it!
Hey doug. So you got the system dialed in, I am going to plan a road trip soon. I had the same system with the utopias and all tube research 7 years ago. Hard to beat that setup good job.
